Sweets & Snacks Expo 2026 Recap: Bold Flavors, Texture Play, and Snack Innovation Take Center Stage

The 2026 Sweets & Snacks Expo marked an exciting first year in Las Vegas, bringing together brands, suppliers, and innovators from across the confectionery and snack industries to spotlight the trends shaping the future of snacking. From adventurous flavor combinations to nostalgic reinventions, this year’s show proved consumers are continuing to seek products that deliver both familiarity and surprise.

At Pecan Deluxe Candy Company, we were proud to participate in the Supplier Showcase, where we sampled our product and connected with brands looking for bold, customizable flavor experiences. The response reinforced several key trends we saw throughout the show floor.

One of the biggest trends was the continued rise of adventurous flavor combinations. Citrus flavors, especially orange, yuzu, and tropical profiles, appeared across snacks and confections, often paired with spicy, sour, or salty elements to create layered flavor experiences. Sweet and savory mashups continue to resonate with consumers seeking familiar comfort with an unexpected twist. Our orange glazed pretzels reflected this movement by balancing bright citrus sweetness with crunchy, salty pretzel texture.

Texture driven snacking also took center stage. From crunchy coatings and chewy centers to layered inclusions and multi sensory experiences, brands showcased products designed to create excitement beyond flavor alone. Younger consumers in particular are gravitating toward snacks that feel experiential and shareable, fueled by social media trends and visually dynamic products.

Another major takeaway from the show was the evolution of “functional indulgence.” Protein packed snacks, gut health ingredients, caffeine infused confections, and cleaner label formulations were integrated into categories traditionally centered around indulgence. Consumers are increasingly looking for snacks that deliver added value while still feeling fun and satisfying. At the same time, indulgence remains essential, with colorful formats, bold flavors, oversized treats, and nostalgic concepts continuing to drive engagement across the category.

As the sweets and snacks industry continues to evolve, this year’s expo showed that the future of snacking lies in balancing enjoyment with innovation. Whether through bold flavor combinations, texture focused experiences, or functional ingredients, brands are finding new ways to create memorable products that connect with today’s consumers.
